No sugarcoating, no scripted lines-just raw insights and real strategies.
If you're preparing for IPMAT 2026 or later, this one Q&A blog can help shape your preparation roadmap.
Let's begin.
Raghav: First of all, I gave a mock. That mock told me which parts of the paper I was weak in. For me, in Quants, it was mostly geometry. In Verbal, it was the reading and comprehension part. So I focused more on those parts. Once the syllabus was done, I realized it wasn't vast-it can be revised in a few days.
Raghav: Initially, my focus was on accuracy. Once I got better, I shifted to speed. I used a timestamp strategy. For example, in QA (MCQ), I set a goal to reach the 13th question with 20-25 minutes left. During the actual paper, I had 21 minutes left at that point, so I knew I was a bit slow and picked up speed. I also ensured I had 8-10 minutes left before reaching the DI set.
Raghav: I played around with the order of sections. In IPMAT Rohtak, you can attempt English first and then Math. For Indore, I experimented with doing DI first, middle, or last. I also focused on identifying easy questions I missed and practiced those specific topics to improve.
Raghav: Yes. After finishing the syllabus once, I stopped revising and focused only on mocks. But I wasn't improving, especially in topics like geometry. I realized I needed to revise those vast topics regularly, and that brought me out of the plateau.

Raghav: Both technique and habit. My VA base was very weak when I joined Supergrads. So I started reading essays daily and focused on improving basics. That helped me a lot.
Raghav: I followed a seasonal strategy. In April-June, my full focus was on IPMAT. In August-September, I shifted to boards. December to February was again for boards. The rest of the months were for IPMAT prep.
Raghav: I never covered trigonometry. It didn't show up in the actual paper. I also skipped parabola, hyperbola, and ellipse in coordinate geometry. None of them appeared. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Raghav: I knew I took stress easily, so I cooled off for a day or two, then analyzed the paper. I didn't overthink the low scores; I focused on what went wrong and fixed it.Q9. Looking back now, what's one thing parents worry too much about and one thing they should focus more on?
Raghav: They focus too much on strengths and not enough on weaknesses. But IPM has sectional cutoffs. You must clear each section. Ironically, VA-my weakest section-became my strength in the final exam.

Biggest strength in exam hall? MCQ
Most underestimated topic in IPM? Geometry
Super mentors who left a lasting impact? Sonal Ma'am
Mocks or actual exam tougher? Both were tough-mocks test prep, the actual exam adds pressure.
One habit that separated you from other aspirants? Structured revision-I wrote the IPMAT syllabus down every 1-2 months, divided topics, and revised consistently.
Raghav: Commerce with Applied Maths.
Raghav: I was consistent. But my scores improved massively in 2025. I got more serious this year than last.
Raghav: Not necessarily. In IPMAT 2025, QA (MCQ) had only 3 arithmetic questions. IPMAT Indore is shifting towards geometry and algebra. So non-Math students can do well if they focus on asked topics like algebra, geometry, number system.
Raghav: Break arithmetic into topics-like SI/CI, time-work, etc. Each topic has 5-7 question types. If you master those patterns, you won't blank out.
Raghav: I kept modifying it. For example, in VA, I initially started with para-completion and parajumbles but ended with RC > grammar > vocab > para questions. Even in Quant, I shifted DI from first to last.

Raghav: Read more. My VA was weak, so I started reading one essay daily. Turn your weakness into a daily habit-even if it doesn't feel like studying.
Raghav: "Name female political leaders of neighboring countries." I couldn't recall current ones but gave one ex-leader's name.
Host: His mom lived the journey better than him. Parents played a massive role, emotionally and strategically.
Raghav: I knew VA was my weakness. I tracked IPMAT cutoffs and saw I needed to improve that section. So I read more, solved books, attended classes, and gave worksheets.
Raghav: Word Power Made Easy changed my view completely. The root method and the way it narrates word origins made it fun and impactful.
Raghav: Sometimes after good mocks I thought maybe I could. But after bad mocks, I doubted it. So I stayed focused on improving and didn't let highs or lows distract me.

"You must raise yourself to such a level that when the day of distribution of gifts comes, God asks you what you want."
