The National Law University, Delhi, conducts the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) annually to provide admission to BA LLB (Hons), LLM, and Ph. D courses.

The classic fact about National Law University, Delhi, is that it has been the only law school in the nation with its stand-alone entrance exam, i.e., AILET, since 2008. 

Coming to the context of the article, we have tried to answer a few queries that students will have about AILET Notification 2023.

  • Who can apply for AILET? Students applying for ailet 2023 ug courses must have passed class 12 or equivalent exams with a minimum of 50% marks to be eligible for the exam.
  • I appeared for AILET last year. Am I eligible to appear for the AILET 2023 session? Yes, there is no limitation to appearing for the AILET exam. However, you must satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the NLU.

07 September 2022: AILET Registration Started!

The National Law University, Delhi, started the online registration process for the AILET Entrance Exam 2023 on 07 September 2022. The last date to fill out the AILET Application Form 2023 is 15 November 2022.

Make sure to fill out the registration form on or before the last date to avoid discrepancies at the last moment.

01 September 2022: AILET Exam Date Announced

As per the latest notice published by the National Law University Delhi, the AILET 2023 Exam will be held on 11 December 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at all India levels.

The university will start the online registration process starting from 07 September 2022.

AILET 2023 Exam Notification PDF

NLU, Delhi, published the complete schedule of the All India Law Entrance Test on the official notification.

The key highlights of the AILET Notification 2023 are listed below:

  • You must have completed class 12 or equivalent exam to be eligible for the All India Law Entrance Test.
  • The exam pattern is similar to the last year, which means there will be only three sections in the question paper: English language, current affairs & general knowledge, and logical reasoning, which means Mathematics and legal aptitude sections have been removed from the question paper.
  • The exam conducting body may use Legal principles in the logical reasoning section to test your understanding and familiarity with legal reasoning.

AILET Notification 2023: Seat Matrix

According to the AILET Notification 2022, the university has released 198 seats to provide admission through AILET merit and 22 seats for foreign nationals and OCI/PIO.

AILET Exam 2023: Eligibility Criteria

The National Law University, Delhi, has prescribed certain criteria that you must satisfy to be eligible for the entrance exam.

AILET 2023 Eligibility Criteria for LLB

  • You must have passed the Intermediate (class 10+2) or equivalent exam with a minimum of (45% marks for the general category) (40% marks for SC/ST/PwD category) to be eligible for AILET (or)
  • If you are appearing for class 12 exams in the current year, you can also apply for the exam.

AILET 2023 Eligibility Criteria for LLM

  • To apply for the LLM course, you must have completed your graduation or any other equivalent degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (or)
  • You can apply for the exam if you are pursuing a final year LLB.

AILET 2023 Eligibility Criteria for PhD

  • To apply for the AILET exam, you must hold an LL.M or equivalent degree with 55% marks. However, it is 50% if you belong to SC/ST categories (or)
  • If you have completed your degree in law and a Ph.D., in any discipline, then you can also apply for the exam (or)

How to Apply for AILET 2023 Exam?

You can able to fill out the application form only through online mode. There are five stages involved in the AILET Application Process 2023: Registration, Selecting the law course, Filling out the form, Uploading documents, and fee payment. 

  • Visit the official website of NLU Delhi: nludelhi.ac.in
  • Complete the registration by entering all the basic information like name, contact number, email ID, Parents' Name, Date of Birth
  • You will receive a User ID and Password, which is autogenerated. 
  • Login to your account using the login credentials such as User ID and password
  • Enter all the required details like Education Qualification, Personal Details, Communication details, Parent's Details, Category, and Religion.
  • Choose your desired exam center and proceed to the next step. 
  • Upload the Scanned documents, i.e., photographs and signature, in the specified format
  • You can pay the application fee either online mode or offline mode.

AILET 2023 Exam Pattern

As said above, the AILET Exam Pattern 2023 has been revised by the National Law University, Delhi. Therefore, knowing the paper pattern will give you a fair idea about the number of questions asked from each section, marking scheme, and exam difficulty level.

Exam pattern for B.A.LLB

The B.A.LLB is a renowned five-year program at the National Law University. According to the new AILET exam pattern, the B.A.The LLB question paper consists of only three sections: English, Current Affairs & General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning.

  • The AILET Exam 2023 consists of 150 questions for 150 marks.
  • The total time duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
  • The question paper includes objective-type questions.
  • For each right answer, you will be awarded one mark, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Exam pattern for LLM

The paper Pattern of the AILET LLM course consists of 100 MCQ-type questions and two essay-type descriptive questions on the assigned topics.

The objective-based question carries 100 marks, and the essay-based question carries 25 marks each.

AILET 2023 Syllabus

The NLU will release the results on its official website. The AILET Result will be released in PDF format based on the categories.

AILET Merit List 2023

The Merit List will be released after the declaration of the result. The seat allotment is based on the AILET Merit List.

AILET 2023 Cut Off

Based on the result, the NLU decides the cut-off marks to shortlist you for admission into law programs. The AILET Cut Off is declared separately for all categories.

AILET 2023 Admission Process

The AILET Counselling is conducted offline by the National Law University, Delhi. This process is held after the merit list is released by the University. 

  • You need to pay the admission-cum-counselling fee for AILET.
  • You must make sure to remit the fee to the NLU Admission Office within the specified time. Otherwise, the candidature will get canceled.
  • After the first slot of admission, the list of shortlisted aspirants will be issued by NLU Delhi for spot counseling.
