NTA CUET Syllabus 2023

The National Testing Agency (NTA) prescribed the syllabus for the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET) 2023 in its official notification. The next sections of the exam are going to be conducted from 10th August. 

Those who are appearing for the exam must prepare all topics from the class NCERT textbooks. 

You must have already checked the CUET exam pattern, as each subject has a different exam pattern. 

While many students have already completed their CUET exams, the rest must prepare without wasting any time, as there are hardly a few days left for the CUET Exam 2023.

NTA CUET UG Syllabus 2023

The NTA CUET Syllabus includes subjects and the syllabus of class 12. According to the CUET Exam Pattern, the entrance exam will include four sections:

• Section 1A: Language test
• Section 1B: Language test
• Section 2: Domain-specific test
• Section 3: General aptitude test

The exam will be conducted in two shifts. In the first shift, you will have to appear for Section 1A (language paper), two chosen domain subjects, and the general aptitude test.

In the second shift, if opted for, you will appear for the other four domain subjects and an additional language test (Section 1B).

NTA CUET 2023 Syllabus of Language Test (Section 1A & 1B)

This is the first section in the CUET Exam 2023. The questions in this section will test one’s proficiency in the language based on comprehension passages, fundamentals of grammar, and vocabulary. 

• In the comprehension section, you will be evaluated on your understanding of a passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc.
• The grammar section entails correcting grammatically incorrect sentences, filling blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc. 
• Questions on synonyms & antonyms will check one’s command of English vocabulary.
• Prepare for Verbal Ability,  Rearranging the parts, Choosing the correct word, Synonyms, Antonyms, and Vocabulary.

This section is to be attempted in 45 minutes, for 40 questions must be attempted.

NTA CUET 2023 Syllabus of Domain-Specific Subjects Test

Questions related to the domain-specific topic will be asked in this section.

The domain-specific section will include 27 subjects, out of which you have to choose any six domain subjects that you wish to pursue in your UG course or that you believe you are good at. 

Also, note that if you are targeting a particular college, check their subjects' requirements to choose to give an exam for studying a particular course. 

For example:

• At Delhi University, you can be expected to give one language subject from section 1
• For Section 2, one must choose program-specific domain subjects. 
• Similarly, for section 3, one must choose program-specific topics for the general tests as well.

NTA CUET 2023 Syllabus for General Aptitude Test 2023

According to the CUET 2023 Syllabus, the general aptitude test question paper is based on the following subjects:

• General Knowledge & Current Affairs
• General Mental Ability
• Numerical Ability
• Quantitative Reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra geometry/mensuration/statistics taught till Grade 8)
• Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Solving NTA CUET mock tests will help you understand the type of questions asked from these subjects. The question paper will have multiple-choice questions based on NCERT textbooks, and there is a negative marking for each wrongly answered question.

There will be a total of 75 questions in the general aptitude test. Out of which, you have to attempt 60 questions in 60 minutes.

NTA CUET 2023 Exam Pattern

The UGC (University Grants Commission) confirmed that the Common Universities Entrance Test is conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode, i.e., online mode. The pattern of the question paper will comprise objective-type questions. 

According to the CUCET Exam Pattern, the entrance exam will include four sections. 

The exam will be conducted in two shifts. In the first shift, you will have to appear for Section 1A (language paper), two chosen domain subjects, and the general aptitude test.

In the second shift, if opted for, you will appear for the other four domain subjects and an additional language test (Section 1B).

This is the first section of the CUET Exam 2023. Note that the questions are designed to test your English language skills, and the standard of questions will be class 12 level.

In the language test, the questions are mainly based on different types of reading comprehension passages, as given below.

• Factual
• Literary
• Narrative (Literary aptitude & vocabulary)

This marking scheme is tentative as there is no explicit mention of it. However, we believe that the right answer holds 1 mark, while the incorrect answer deducts 0.25 marks.
