JNU Admissions through NTA CUET 2022

In the 159th academic meeting held on January 12, 2022, board of council at JNU decided to adopt the Common Universities Entrance Test administered by NTA (National Testing Agency) for shortlisting students for admission to various UG programs.

On September 16, 2022 the CUET results were finally published for nearly 9,68,201 students who took the exam this year. The CUET results has had nearly 20,000 candidates with 100 percentile across 30 subjects as per the data published by NTA.

JNU has seen 67,546 applications drop in through CUET exams for admission into various undergradute programs. Several top universities like DU, BHU, AMU etc have already begun the second phase of admission process through dedicated portal on their official websites. 

JNU is yet to have its UG admission portal active and is expected to follow similar admission process like other top universities.

If you have qualifying scores in the recently published CUET result 2022 and have applied for any undergraduate program at JNU? This article is for you. 

Delhi University, AMU etc have started their phase 2 admission process through a CSAS portal dedicated for UG admissions. Similarly, official notice from JNU states that the admission portal will be active shortly and accepts students to fill their application form along with the application fees. 

Like other universities, the normalized CUET scores is taken to consideration to prepare the merit list based on which selected candidates will be called in for counselling process.

JNU Admissions through NTA CUET 2022

The day CUET results were published, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi's admission branch released a notice. 

The notice starts that " On the release of CUET UG results, admission branch is processing data/details/result of candidates provided by NTA and shall open the portal shortyly." 

The portal is will available on official website of JNU for students seeking admission in JNU to fill the application form by paying the corresponding admission processing fee.

JNU Admissions through NTA CUET 2022 to various courses is done through the Central Universities Common Entrance Test Exam

As per an official announcement issued by JNU, the adoption of the Common Universities Entrance Test for admission of students will make the process of selection even in terms of opportunity and demography.

JNU CUET Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the admission process, you should satisfy the following CUET Eligibility Criteria set by the exam conducting body.

• Candidates should have passed Intermediate (10+2) from CBSE or any other recognized board with English as one of the core subjects. 
• Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 60% in 10+2 qualifying examinations.
• Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examinations must appear in the Common Universities Entrance Test on a provisional basis.

JNU NTA CUET Undergraduate Courses

The following CUET courses are offered at Jawaharlal Nehru University.

• The School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies (SLLCS) is the only School of Study that provides a Bachelor’s degree in this University i.e. B.A. (Hons). 
• They also offer entry points to both the first and second years of this program.
• Admission to B.A(H) first year will be based on the performance of the candidates in the entrance test.
• Admission to B.A(H) second year will be based on the merit of candidates in the entrance test and viva voce.

Importance of NTA CUET 2022

A large proportion of Central Universities currently admits students on the basis of class 12 marks through CUET. The concern with the merit system was that it wasnt evaulating the students of equal grounds. Different educational boards that have different scoring systems. This makes the process of admission uneven in terms of opportunity and demographics, so the CUET UG exam was introduced to reduce the high cut-off standards for entering these prestigious colleges.

• The computer-based common entrance assessment to be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) will be compulsory for admission to all participating central universities.
• Instead of appearing for multiple entrance tests, you can now focus on a single aptitude test to get admission to top universities like JNU, DU, BHU, etc.
